John and Ed, co-owners of Milburn Pharmacy, noticed that the local area was in need of an information office to direct people in need to the correct service group. In November, 1998, Alice Dodd began working to start collecting enough information to create a Resource Center. In a very short time, we have been able to help many people. We help to direct people in need to the appropriate local service organizations that offer solutions to their problems. The range of assistance has been from helping people to locate a job, finding an organization to help with specific diseases, finding food, locating legal and medical services, and working with local doctors to help get people signed up for patient assistance drug programs offered by many drug companies. We have found that there are several local service organizations and services available but that most of our customers have never had to ask for help. When a crisis enters their world, they have no idea where to begin looking for the much needed assistance.
